Vector Expanse is rolling out in several major updates with intermittent patches.
The plan as it stands currently is:
¶ Current Status - December 30, 2024Happy new years everyone! A quick update. We will not be having a dedicated server mode per-se, we will have Host and Cluster Modes, cluster mode is a dedicated server but assigns a cluster (or more than one) so that you host a portion of the public virtual world, so in a way it is a dedicated server but automatically connected to a grid system which is basically a hybrid between dedicated and the cloud system we originally planned on doing, so that is pretty neat. Yes, there will still be single player mode and your will own your copy of the game. I have almost completed the work on this portion of the conversion process! ¶ Current Development & RoadmapWe have moved the list of progress and Roadmap to our new project management provider Trello. ¶ VersioningWe are now operating on a major.minor.patch versioning system. Public beta begins at v0.5.0 with frequent micro-updating due to our automated patching system. Keep in mind that patch version of 0.0.2 is less than and not equal to 0.0.20! Version 0.0.2 would be patch version 2 and 0.0.20 would be patch version 20. ¶ LicensesAll software licenses this project uses. |
We have started our own AWS S3 storage service based on the open source project SeaweedFS. This system allows us to store both settings files and all asset related storage in a highly efficient and highly saleable way and at our own costs as we can expand in many different ways and choices including replication between data centers, etc. We are now entirely self sufficient, relying on no third party storage services!
